BASIC Provider Course
14 and 15 February 2019
The BASIC course is primarily designed as an introduction to Intensive Care for doctors coming to work in ICU for the first time. It has also proved popular with critical care nurses, Emergency Department doctors and doctors who have responsibility for severely ill patients.
The course is run over two days and consists of brief clinically-based lectures, small group skill stations, e-learning and pre and post-course tests. A course manual is provided. It covers essential and fundamental aspects of Intensive Care, including: airway management, CPR, acute respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, diagnosis and management of shock, trauma, severe sepsis, acid base disturbances and transport of the critically ill.
Participants are expected to have read the course manual and have completed an online MCQ test prior to attending the course which is available via the BASIC website.
Lunch and refreshments are provided each day, as is a course dinner at one of Bendigo’s finest eateries.
